An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck Hokkaido Prefecture in the far north of Japan this afternoon, Saturday.

The earthquake was at a depth of 50 kilometers, and the European Mediterranean Seismological Center said, in data published on its website, that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 40 kilometers southeast of the city of Nemuro, and 116 kilometers between the east and northeast of the city of Kushiro.
It is noteworthy that last October 14, Hokkaido Prefecture was exposed to an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, at a depth of 60 kilometers.
Seismic Center data revealed that the epicenter of the earthquake was 115 kilometers east of the city of Hakodate, and 76 kilometers east-northeast of the city of Mutsu.
