UNRWA: The number of displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza will exceed one million within days

Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said that UNRWA is the only name that remains cohesive in the Gaza Strip, and is still providing services until now, noting that the Palestinian Strip has 1.9 million displaced people in various regions. Among them are 1.2 million displaced people in the UN agency’s shelter centers, in addition to hundreds of thousands more in schools, government shelter centers, hospitals and the streets, pointing out that the number of displaced Palestinians near the border with Egypt will exceed one million in the next few days.
Abu Hasna added, in a telephone conversation with the journalist Marina Al-Masry, presenter of the “Matrouh Niqash” program on the “Cairo News” channel, this evening, Wednesday, that “tens of thousands, during the past three days, have set up primitive camps, reminiscent of the camps that were established in the year 1948».
The media advisor to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) continued, saying: “We noticed a very huge migration and a large displacement from south to south, that is, from the Khan Yunis area to the Rafah area,” as both cities are located in the south of the Gaza Strip.
Abu Hassana explained, “Before the start of the ground operation in Khan Yunis, there were half a million Palestinians in Rafah, and we expect the numbers to reach 1.2 million Palestinians in the city of Rafah in the coming days, even though it was designed to accommodate 250,000 Palestinians, up to 5 times its capacity.” Absorption.
